William (Bill) Baer Celebration of Life

William Lawrence Baer, 69, of Applewood Colorado passed away on August 22, 2024, after a battle with cancer.

He was known as Billy to his buddies, Bill to his family and Grandpa Bill to his grandkids.  He is survived by his children, April (Will) and Harde (Leslie), five grandchildren, Aleena, Wyatt, Avery, Austin and Ashton, two step grandchildren, Alex and Alyssa, two brothers, Jerry and Mike (Charlene) and their sons, Michael, Thomas and William and two sisters, Alice and Mary (Richard).

Bill was a hardworking man who truly loved his family.  He was born in Chicago IL on May 4, 1955, to Gerald and Eugenia Baer.  He was a graduate of Wheat Ridge High School. After a year in college, he decided that the trades were better suited to him, and he embarked on a career as a journeyman lineman.  He was a proud member of IBEW Local 111 for 51years.

He loved to go to as many concerts as possible and was a big fan of classic rock, especially the Rolling Stones.  He was a HUGE sports guy.  He followed all sports but loved baseball and football the most.  He followed the Broncos and although begrudgingly sometimes loved his Rockies as well.  He visited every one of the 10 spring training fields in the Phoenix area.

He was a true family man who always made it a point to be as involved as possible with his kids and grandkids lives.  He visited Arizona at least once a year to see his daughter and her family and he would often talk about moving there.  When visiting Arizona, he made sure to attend anything involving Aleena and Wyatt including soccer games and cheer competitions.  His love for his grandchildren in Colorado, Avery, Austin, and Ashton was evident by his presence at everything he could attend including their soccer and football games, even as his health declined.

He was a fun guy to be around.  He always ensured the grandkids got something cool for their birthdays.  His favorite holiday was the 4th of July. He couldn’t resist a good firework. He also enjoyed camping and fishing.

Bill will be greatly missed. He stood tall and never backed down to the last 2 years during his illness.  He continued to speak in future terms even to the very end.  We know he is watching over his friends and family and keeping a quip ready for us when we meet again.

Donations honoring Bill may be sent to the Denver Hospice 8289E Lowry Blvd. Denver CO 80230, or at thedenverhospice.org.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Arbor House, 14600W 32nd Ave, Golden, CO on Wednesday, Sept 11, 2024 from 4:00 pm to7:00 pm.
